South African Tourism

“It is so easy to waste our lives: our days, our hours, our minutes. It is so easy to exist instead of live. Unless you know there is a clock ticking” – Anna Quindlen

It was very clear from our recent trip to Cape Town that all our other municipalities / tourism boards could learn a lot locally instead of looking abroad for inspiration.

Florida Road with SPIGA Durban Sidebar Cubana Havana Lounge Cubana Florida Road,DurbanCappello Florida Road Keys on Florida give one a minuscule taste of what Beerhouse Stones Long Street Beuna Vista, Social Cafe and others offer inLong Street Cape Town, South Africa and surrounding areas.

I guess that’s why a lot of my friends say: I love Cape Town.

The Victoria Wharf, V & A Waterfront, Cape Town in photo is another story for another day.

Miller’s Point

I clambered around the rocks at the southern end of Miller’s Point Cape Town, South Africa in the gusting cold winds to find a little nookie for my Canon G3X, Joby tripod and I a few minutes before sunrise.

It was one of those blessed “once in a blue moon” sunrises where I sat for some time after shooting and thought “Oh Wow!”.

The ocean lapped the shore, the birds were squawking about, golden light was about and I soaked up all Mother Nature had to offer. The Kogelberg Nature Reserve / mountains lay in the background.

Abandoned now Art 2

Abandoned now Art featured an old house in Umbilo.

This follow on post features two street-art photos from North Coast Road and then a few buildings needing some art or other “love” in the Point Redevelopment area.

Abandoned now Art

I updated my “About” post this morning with one more photo and also added links to some of my other posts.

Go check it out and let me know what you think.

The photos below are of an abandoned house in Umbilo Road, Durban.

If I had stumbled upon PYMCACity Lifer or Fatcap before taking the photos, I would have concentrated more on the art.

Another visit to this house and some similar locations now seems inevitable. This art seems to “talk” to my camera.

Perhaps some knowledgeable artists can tell us a bit about the art on the walls below.
