South African Tourism

“It is so easy to waste our lives: our days, our hours, our minutes. It is so easy to exist instead of live. Unless you know there is a clock ticking” – Anna Quindlen

It was very clear from our recent trip to Cape Town that all our other municipalities / tourism boards could learn a lot locally instead of looking abroad for inspiration.

Florida Road with SPIGA Durban Sidebar Cubana Havana Lounge Cubana Florida Road,DurbanCappello Florida Road Keys on Florida give one a minuscule taste of what Beerhouse Stones Long Street Beuna Vista, Social Cafe and others offer inLong Street Cape Town, South Africa and surrounding areas.

I guess that’s why a lot of my friends say: I love Cape Town.

The Victoria Wharf, V & A Waterfront, Cape Town in photo is another story for another day.

“The arrogant, judgmental and egotistical appear to think they are better than us. Truth is, they are attempting to convince themselves that they are. Judging a person does not define who they are (for we really don’t know), but it does question why we are so ready to make such assumptions – and what it is within us that we are projecting upon them” ~ Unknown

The First Thursdays Durban 14 chosen by Marco Santoniccolo of SPIGA Durban on show at Sidebar 200 Florida Road Durban until end December 2016.

Good morning Durban

I lay in bed at 04:30 this morning, after getting up for a short while, and was thinking about sleeping in until 06:30.

Robin Sharma‘s recent email kept beating in my head so I had no option but to get back out of bed and head to the harbour and then beach to watch the sunrise.

I didn’t want to “lose” my membership in the 5 am Club!

“The moment you think you’re amazing is the moment you lose the very mentality (and spirit) that made you amazing. On the arrival of uncommon success, the human tendency is:

1. For humility to become eroded and arrogance to creep in

2. To lose the fire that got you into The 5 am Club, kept you pushing to be the best & moved you to persist against all that fear could put in your way

3. To rest on your laurels and fall into the seduction of thinking that what made you successful will keep you successful

And so, as you navigate your rise to world-class, avoid “the catastrophe of success”. Own your Craft. Live your Genius. Lift our World” ~ Robin Sharma

Good morning Durban and Happy Father’s Day! (Sunday 19 June 2016).

Wishing all of you a splendid day with your fathers, children, partners, friends, or even one enjoying your own company.

We went looking for Vusumuzi, a lifeguard at Durban North Beach., but he was not there… no doubt already busy with the Standard Bank Ironman 70.3 Durban – good man!
