Good morning Cape Town!

Good morning Cape Town! (and Durban )!

South African Tourism

“It is so easy to waste our lives: our days, our hours, our minutes. It is so easy to exist instead of live. Unless you know there is a clock ticking” – Anna Quindlen

It was very clear from our recent trip to Cape Town that all our other municipalities / tourism boards could learn a lot locally instead of looking abroad for inspiration.

Florida Road with SPIGA Durban Sidebar Cubana Havana Lounge Cubana Florida Road,DurbanCappello Florida Road Keys on Florida give one a minuscule taste of what Beerhouse Stones Long Street Beuna Vista, Social Cafe and others offer inLong Street Cape Town, South Africa and surrounding areas.

I guess that’s why a lot of my friends say: I love Cape Town.

The Victoria Wharf, V & A Waterfront, Cape Town in photo is another story for another day.

Miller’s Point

I clambered around the rocks at the southern end of Miller’s Point Cape Town, South Africa in the gusting cold winds to find a little nookie for my Canon G3X, Joby tripod and I a few minutes before sunrise.

It was one of those blessed “once in a blue moon” sunrises where I sat for some time after shooting and thought “Oh Wow!”.

The ocean lapped the shore, the birds were squawking about, golden light was about and I soaked up all Mother Nature had to offer. The Kogelberg Nature Reserve / mountains lay in the background.

The Right Track

“Many people believe that as long as you’re making progress, you’re on the right track. But progress isn’t the ultimate thing to be looking for. Making sure you’re on the right track you want to be on is FIRST. Why bother focusing on the progress of getting to New York if you’re not sure you want to go to New York in the first place? That’s what happens with so many people. They’re convinced they should go on a certain road and then all they think about is the progress they make on the road. But it helps to lift our heads up and “climb a tree” so to speak and take a look around to make sure the road you’re on is REALLY the road you want to be on” ~ Brian Kim

Web Prepared (Large)

I’m a sucker for motivational stuff but it’s important to selectively choose what you follow / engage in. The post by Brian above is so true (I recently found out). Why get all psyched-up about being a CEO when you are truly content with being a bank clerk? I’ve tried to set my goals on what I love and makes me tick, and not on what others preach to be the ultimate (it’s their ultimate not mine).

Before filing away my Cape Town photos (again), I took a run at this photo taken near Boulders Beach Penguin Sanctuary – Table Mountain National Park. I used a good few features of Jimmy Mcintyre‘s Raya Pro PS panel (http://www.shutterevolve.com/raya-pro-the-ultimate-digital…/) to polish the final product.

Another Day at Boulder’s V2

“Sometimes our light goes out but is blown into flame by another human being. Each of us owes deepest thanks to those who have rekindled this light” ~ Albert Schweitzer

Blowback to 19 June 2014 when I shot over to Boulder’s Beach for a sunrise shoot. I cleaned the original version up for another purpose (and also because I’ve learnt a few more tricks in the past year). The original version is my most “favorited” version on my Flickr account. If I ever go back there I want to meet some Penguins.

Raya Pro Panel – plugin for Photoshop

“Everyone has something they can do. Whatever means you have to make the world a better place, you need to do it. Even if we won’t see the fruits of this in our lifetime, start now” ~ – Daniel Goleman Web Prepared23 (Large) This is one of my experiments I worked on tonight. The other one burnt my brain out.. sizzled! Canon South Africa 6D, F10, 1/4 sec, ISO 100, 24-105L, -2 exp bias at Boulders Beach Simonstown

Here is my full size image.https://www.flickr.com/…/18945746834/in/dateposted-public/. I burnt my brain out as I was learning about all the many features available on the new Jimmy McintyreRaya Pro” Panel plugin for Photoshop (http://www.shutterevolve.com/raya-pro-the-ultimate…/).

This photo achieved 264 faves on Flickr without being in one group! That was very surprising for me as no other previous photo (showcased in multiple groups) had ever reached 100 faves. The only thing I did different was used the Raya Pro luminosity masks feature.
