Tanya

“Sadness flies away on the wings of time” ~ Jean de La Fontaine

Web Prepared (Large)

Today (16 August 2015) is Tanya Vermeulen De Vries‘s birthday. She is a kind caring soul who is the Mother of all Mother’s. Highly capable in the home and at work, and now resident overseas. She has had to carry the unbearable burden of an incomprehensible loss, and I sincerely hope that today and from hereon she is blessed tremendously – and will now start to reap the benefits of her goodness.

This photo was called “Another Blessing”. I made some cosmetic changes this morning and version 2 is called “Tanya”.

Good morning Durban!

“O nectar’s son, o traveller, o child of immortality, sing the song of strength. Sing the song of triumph. March forward fearlessly and reach the goal of union with God. O pilgrim, tread the path of truth. Meditate. Hear the voice of God within your heart. Then you will enjoy real peace and bliss” ~ Sri Swami Sivananda

Durban: sun, fun & sport 4 final

“Durban is a natural paradise known for its gorgeous coastline of sun-kissed beaches and subtropical climate, situated on the eastern seaboard of Africa. The City is built around one of the busiest ports in Africa and our people are our pride. The city focuses on providing visitors with a unique set of experiences that go beyond the beach and into the realm of Durban’s diverse culture, urban lifestyle and scenic diversity. The City of Durban is an elegant, mature and ambitious city. It is a trendsetter in offering great lifestyle, speckled with adventure activities, blessed with natural beauty and is an astonishingly liveable city. Whether you here as a business delegate or a leisure traveler there is a warm African flavor that will capture your heart forever” ~ Durban Experience.

Head of the Bay 2015

As mentioned, I went down to Point Yacht Club area this morning before sunrise, and specifically to Durban Rowing Club. After getting stuck in the sand and being assisted by Salim & Co of NSRI, I made it to the club. Finally got to meet Nola Mitchell and a few other persons, had a lekker egg & bacon roll made by Sean Houlson (paid for by Wendy Houlson). I really like some of the 131 photos but this one is one of my favourites.

Whale Bone Pier 2015

“One of the great things about exploring is that sometimes, the discovery lies not in what you’re exploring, but what’s right next to it. Something you never would’ve known had you not explored in the first place. So while something may seem like a waste of time to explore, while the promise
of gain may be slim, it still might be worth it just because you never know” ~ Brian Kim

I heard about 1.5 days too late that a seal had beached at Umhlanga – The FunShine Coast in front of The Beverly Hills Hotel. I raced down there but Mr Seal had already left on his journey.

“Here are 3 sure-fire steps that will take you from wishing upon a star to being one: Imagine your dreams as if they already exist. Speak as if they already exist. And act as if they already exist. And before long, you’ll be hearing pretty much the same thing from virtually all of your old friends, “Wow, how did that happen so fast? You have to write a book! Must be nice…” ~ The Universe

I decided against doing my 7th sunrise on the beach in a row this morning and instead chose to start work early long before our office opened. Here is a photo from about two weeks back; one of those sunrises where there were no clouds to spice up the sky. Wishing all of you a happy productive short week!

A lovely sunrise this morning Moyo’s Ushaka with Mr Fanta himself Prakash Bhikha. Lee-Ann Conway was there too. A great start to the day indeed! I’m still eyeing out that Fujifilm South Africa XT1 that Prakash is carrying around / bragging with.

Spirit D’ Sulis

From the yacht’s website: “Our fleet boasts the “Spirit D’ Sulis” a luxury 5 berth Royal Cape catamaran, kitted out with an exclusive master suite and 2 double bed berth rooms, both with en suites. The luxury yacht for hire offers 2 single bunk bed berths, each with en suites. Let the Spirit D’ Sulis transport you to some of the finest sailing grounds and stunning places on the coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal. The capacity of this yacht for overnight stays is 10 passengers, however we accommodate up to a maximum of 20 people for cruises. Catamarans are the best vessel for our opulent charters, with plenty of space, stability and speed for your perfect sea holiday. Although the principles of sailing are the same for both catamarans and monohulls, the catamaran is reputed to be faster and more stable. The spacious outlay of the deck and cockpit, and cabin accommodation at the ends of the seemingly narrow hulls and large, ensures that the royal lounge provides all the comfort and privacy that you could possibly imagine. The Spirit d’Sulis luxury yacht offers an amazing abundance of open space, ideal for a variety of activities such as sitting, walking, playing, sunbathing and napping. It is an ideal choice for families with children and large groups.” ~ http://www.spiritdsulis.co.za/boats-yachts/ The Spirit of elan
Spirit D’ Sulis

After my mobile phone photo last week, a suggestion by Brian, the Canon South Africa Roadshow yesterday, and motivation by Lee Slabber, I gave the Canon EF 17–40mm lens a run this morning in the CBD and then at Wilson’s Wharf (not my usual seascapes). Bent building, oily water, no meaningful crop – but I love it.
