Bella’s ride to the beach
Our Baby Bella is now 4.5 months old and is a regular beachgoer.
She gets to ride front seat with or without a lap.
Roscoe rides in the back of the van.

Bella’s warm chair
Bella has found a new chair that is warm and moves around with her. It is a “Roscoe” type chair.
There is nothing as grand as sitting on an 11 year old male dog when you are a 5 month old female puppy!
The photo below was taken a while later when the chair got too hot.

Bella one day old with her mom
Our Baby Bella has many relatives, a dad (Hercules) and Mom & siblings shown below, who she no longer stays with.

Bella and the Bone
Previously in “Of young girls and old men” it was clear that Roscoe needed a “permanent” friend so along came Bella.
The “old man” Roscoe is over the moon and Bella is clearly carrying on where Charlie left off.

Bella’s first weekend
Well it’s the end of Bella’s first weekend at her new home.
She has a brand new squeaky shoe.
Also, a big garden to roam.
Lots of time to ponder.
And finally, when energy levels drop, lots of shuteye is needed.
Introducing Bella
We have a new addition to the family and her name is Bella (AKA Nike amongst her litter).
Previously in “Of young girls and old men” it was clear that Roscoe needed a “permanent” friend.
The “old man” Roscoe is over the moon with his new playmate who, at 13 weeks, started giving him the runaround within 2 hours.
She growled, snapped, chewed, ran away and tried to climb on him.
Bella is clearly carrying on where Charlie left off.
Bella arrived yesterday and Roscoe has had his hands full since then (out of breath and gasping for air).

PS – Nike has clearly been given a firm footing in life and good upbringing thus far by her previous “mom” Mariana.
On the way home Nike started squealing and became a little agitated. It soon became apparent why when a deposit of properly digested Hills dog food was dumped inside the vehicle (I’m sure if she could have, Nike would have “gone outside”).
I also noticed her standing at the back door wanting to enter the house. She then suddenly ran to the garden (grass area) and urinated.
As I type / compile this post, Bella (Nike) is sleeping like a baby (well she is) on a mat inside the house (a little break from Roscoe).
Last night, I got up to see how they were doing. Both Bella and Roscoe were cuddled up on a blanket next to each other. Roscoe could have slept elsewhere but chose to look after and guard his young lady.

Of young girls and old men
Roscoe, now 10 years old, has a “next door neighbour” called Zille (named after a SA politician I hear).
Zille is about 4 years old; a beautiful and precious girl.
Roscoe sees her over the fence every day but only face-to-face, up close and personal, every four months or so.
Zille gives the old man a proper run for his money.
Whilst he is just willing to take her “abuse”, I think she also goes easy on his old bones.
But Roscoe’s energy runs out quick and he soon gets a paw on his sorry head.
Zille springs into action again.
The tongues hang out far during these visits.
Sometimes a hug is all you need.
The ears also take unusual shapes.
At times, Zille looks at the old man and asks “Is that all you got?”.
Despite using up all his energy, Roscoe still manages a little trot home; happy that he has had a great visit with his young girl (friend).
