Umhlanga on the Rise

“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time.” – Sir J. Lubbock

It’s guaranteed to be an awesome sunrise tomorrow morning (24 June 2016) at the beach. Probably not the clouds photographers would like, but crisp air and sun.

This photo was taken on Umhlanga Beach about 100 m south of Umhlanga Pier in front of The Beverly Hills Hotel on 16 June 2016 using a Canon South Africa G3X Powershot. 1/4 sec. F11. ISO 125. Small Joby GorillaPod.

Good morning Durban and Happy Father’s Day! (Sunday 19 June 2016).

Wishing all of you a splendid day with your fathers, children, partners, friends, or even one enjoying your own company.

We went looking for Vusumuzi, a lifeguard at Durban North Beach., but he was not there… no doubt already busy with the Standard Bank Ironman 70.3 Durban – good man!

I met Denver at Wilson’s Wharf: Photo Shoot Lookout this morning before sunrise in 5 Star Durban. No clouds usually equals boring for me but then the Igers for #BICLoveYourSA #LoveSA turned up at about the same time the flying pigeons did. This got me thinking that it was a splendid time to do what Dalton does so well. I used my Canon South Africa G3X. F11, ISO 125, 1/100 sec. for the base image. Foreground manipulation just for Instagram

Are you willing to be alone?

Ingrid Bacci says, “If you are afraid of being alone, you are dependent on others for your sense of self, and if you are dependent on others, you block your receptivity to inner guidance.

Being willing to be alone involves being willing to be different, to have commitments and values that don’t blend with any crowd.”

“Always try your best to utilise your energy, your intellect, your education, your wealth, your strength, or anything that you possess, for the betterment of those who are lowly placed in life, and for society in general. Umgeni River

As night falls over the Umgeni River near the mouth. The lights of the M4 North reflect down on the area near where the Duzi Canoe Race usually ends. The Indian Ocean lies just over the bridge. This area to the right is known as Blue Lagoon.
