First Bridge

“The hardest thing in life to learn is which bridge to cross and which to burn” ~ David Russell

In my youth we would often fish on this river (Umgeni River Mouth / Blue Lagoon Durban). We named our locations by the bridges’ numerical order from the sea heading inland – this is 1st bridge just before the mouth.

Powerful Yoga

“A strong faith meets sorrow with strength, suffering with fortitude, disappointment with optimism, loss with cheerfulness, and failure with perseverance. True, strong faith turns all situations into opportunities for progressing Godward. In it there is no such thing as failure, no such thing as disappointment” ~ Sri Swami Sivananda

“I do hope you are remembering lately that those challenges, self-doubts, and insecurities you have, everyone has. And that by design, you are greater than whatever scares you. And that for your ancient, supernatural lineage, you will prevail, triumph, and rise above them, just like you always have. And that those dreams you have are actually peeks at future versions of your life that will all but inevitably be reached, unless you change your mind. And that your friends, known and to be known, chose this lifetime, in part, because you’d be here” ~ Mike Dooley

River View

“The sun will come out tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow
There’ll be sun

Just thinkin’ about tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow
’til there’s none

When I’m stuck with a day that’s grey and lonely
I just stick up my chin and grin and say, oh

The sun will come out tomorrow
So you gotta hang on
’til tomorrow, come what may!
Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya, tomorrow
You’re always a day away!” ~ Annie – Tomorrow Lyrics 1982

“Great kings and emperors are reduced to dust. Scientists and philosophers disappear. Athletes and sportsmen come and go. Memory and intelligence fade away. Youth and beauty, fame and possessions, power and pelf disappear. Mountains crumble. O man, this world is illusory. Seek God and enjoy eternal bliss” ~ Sri Swami Sivananda

Magic

I’ve always said this of Port St Johns and now found a quote that is quite relevant.

“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.” ~ Roald Dahl

I’ve always thought the river mouth at Port St Johns was dirty and disgusting. It took a local (go look at his amazing work here: John Costello Photography) to believe a little.

Raya Pro Plugin for Photoshop

A few months ago I received a new panel  for Photoshop from Jimmy who asked me to try out the various features.

The panel includes buttons and actions to make luminosity masks, other digital blending and various other processing much more of a breeze rather than a laborious task. There are many other useful features.

My photos published on Facebook from August 2015 were end-processed using the panel and the Raya Pro Panel . Here is an example of the easy blending it can do with ease:

Photo 1 – sky blown out

Photo 2 – ground a little dark

Result – sky and ground exposed correctly

I used the “rapid blend” function.
